Hot Tub Pumps – pure essentials for all spas

Hot Tub Pumps

Hot tub pumps are essential to any hot tub and spa, as they are the components that control the inward flow of water into a hot tub or spa as well as the draining of water after a hot tub or spa is used. Therefore, when choosing a pump, it would be wise to purchase one that effectively reduces friction and disturbances in order to maximise efficiency and minimise noise. Hot tub pumps available in the market include Aqua-Flo, Premier, Hayward, PacFab, Sta-Rite, Waterway, and the Pentair PINNACLE 2.

Looking at a hot tub pump anatomy, these pumps are fundamentally made up of two prime sections, which is the wet end where the water moves, and the dry end electric motor. Motors are available in 115 volt and 230 volt types, and come with a vast variety of power levels. Majority of hot tubs are compatible with only 1.5 or 2 inch pipes, and the pump must correspond to the pipe size. If seen in more detail, a hot tub pump actually consists of twelve components, namely the housing bolt, wet end cover, cover gasket, impeller, seal assembly, wet end housing, housing nut, through-bolt motor, motor thru bolt, union O-rings, unions and drain plug.

At times hot tub pumps may become faulty and has to be removed and replaced. Before doing this, first make sure that all power points connected to the spa is turned off. Then, ensure that the pump in the equipment section that has a cord connecting to the equipment control box is unplugged. After that, close the valves of the spa or hot tub, or otherwise drain the spa. Mildly detach the unions located at the wet and dry ends of that particular pump, unlatch it cautiously and take it out from the equipment section. Check that the wire ends are clean and in tiptop condition for connection to the new pump. Installation of a replacement pump in lieu of the faulty one is just the reverse of the removal procedure.

To conclude it all, if you are still looking for a perfect hot tub pump for your hot tub or spa, try to purchase one that is made of high quality material, fits beautifully with your piping system and is attached with a solid warranty.
